The game

What is Baby Trivia?

Baby Trivia is a card game for new and expecting parents. It has 100 trivia cards covering pregnancy, labor and delivery, and baby's first year. Each card asks a question, then explains the answer, so you learn something whether you get it right or not. You'll learn things you never knew about babies. Your partner will insist they knew them already.

What comes in the box?

The box holds 100 trivia cards in three color-coded categories (Pregnancy, Labor & Delivery, and First Year) plus one instruction card, packed in a sturdy two-piece gift box.

What are the game modes?

There are four, and the instruction card in the box walks you through each one.

  • Streaks (1+ players): keep answering correctly to grow your streak and level up.
    • Classic: take turns asking and answering.
    • Co-parent: guess together and argue it out (because parenting is all about arguing over ridiculous things).
    • Solo: cover the answer with the included cover card and quiz yourself.
  • First to 5 (2+ players)
    • Take turns asking and answering.
    • First to 5 points wins, but you have to win by 2.
  • Speed Round (1+ players)
    • Set a 3-minute timer and get through as many cards as you can.
    • Right answers add a point, wrong ones take one away.
  • Baby Shower Showdown (groups)
    • Split into two teams and take turns reading cards to each other.
    • First team to 7 points wins.

Can I play Baby Trivia alone or with my partner?

Yes, both. On your own, draw a card on the couch or during a night feed and quiz yourself. As a couple, take turns asking each other. A lot of the questions cover things a partner is expected to know but was never told, like what goes in the hospital bag or what the Golden Hour is. Consider it a crash course on arguably the most important life change you'll experience.

Can it be played at a baby shower?

Yes, there's a dedicated baby shower game: Baby Shower Showdown. Split into two teams. Each team reads a card out loud to the other team, and the guessing team has to agree on one official answer. A correct answer earns 1 point, and a wrong answer gives the point to the team that read the card. First team to 7 points wins. Look for the baby shower icon on the cards for the best baby shower questions. Guests learn something too, which makes it a nice change from guessing the size of the belly.

How many people can play, and how long does a game take?

One or more. Play solo, as a couple, in a group, or with a whole baby shower. A game takes about 3 to 30 minutes, depending on which game mode you choose to play.

Is it a good gift for new or expecting parents?

Yes. It's a gift that doesn't need a size or a spot on the registry, and it gives parents something fun to do together before or after the baby arrives. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and friends can play too. Shipping to U.S. addresses is free.

How are the facts checked?

Every card is fact-checked before it goes in the deck. We drew on guidance from pediatric and maternal health organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the CDC and Mayo Clinic, along with other reputable sources. The jokes come from real parents' 3 a.m. moments. Baby Trivia is for entertainment and general awareness only, so always check with your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Is this a physical card game or a printable?

It's a physical card game: real printed cards in a box, shipped to your door. If you want to try a few questions first, we've shared fifteen of them on our baby shower trivia page.
